Between 2011 and 2014, Optimizely was installed and used by over 350,000, business websites. The problem was, most of these users had unrealistic expectations about what A/B testing would do for their website. Many of Optimizelys hundreds of thousands of freemium users did not appreciate the sample size required to run successful A/B tests, nor did they appreciate the complexities of A/B testing statistics. The result was that Optimizely was flooded with negative reviews. There was another problem, too. Optimizely And The Google Effect. In early 2015, a new product was launched that began to dismantle Optimizelys monopoly on free A/B testing. Googles new Optimizely alternative threatened to do what Gmail and Google Analytics had done to Outlook Express, Webtrends and Omniture. The combination of a free product Google Optimize with an alternative enterprise solution Google Optimize 360 was exactly the same strategy that had allowed Google to create a monopoly on website analytics and email. |

Goede integratie met andere Google producten. Relatief eenvoudige integratie op de website. Eenvoudig te gebruiken visuele editor, maar ook de optie om code aan te passen. Nadelen Google Optimize. Maximaal vijf verschillende experimenten kunnen tegelijk uitgevoerd worden. Rapportage beperkt zich tot GA data, daar waar VWO bijvoorbeeld heatmaps en replays biedt. VWO is inmiddels al een keer genoemd, maar er zijn meer tools die gebruikt kunnen worden voor het uitvoeren van A/B tests. Een ander bekend alternatief is Optimizely. Bij Datarunsdeep uit Australië hebben ze een mooie vergelijking gemaakt tussen Optimize, VWO en Optimizely. Zij concluderen dat het ideale pakket verschilt per doelgroep, maar dat uiteindelijk bij ieder pakket de gebruiker de grote winnaar is. Aangezien alle drie de programmas voldoende mogelijkheden bieden tot het opzetten van een goede AB test. |
